  • 94,000 near misses prevented
  • 940 recordable injuries prevented
  • 9 lost time incidents prevented

The challenge

Mr Price Branded Bargains is Ireland’s largest discount variety retail chain. A 100% Irish-owned business, the group has grown rapidly since opening its first store in 2010 and now operates more than 60 stores nationwide.

Senior leadership recognised the importance of managing safety consistently and sustainably across the organisation’s growing network. Priorities included improving safety culture across all sites, strengthening safety leadership at store level, and proactively managing high-frequency retail risks—particularly slip, trip, and fall hazards—to protect their staff and customers.

Dr. Paul Cummins, PhD.
CEO of SeaChange, an NFP company

The solution

Mr Price partnered with SeaChange, an NFP company, to deliver a structured, behaviour-based safety culture programme across the group. Two complementary solutions were introduced:

  • Safety Culture Pro Partnership
Each store received a site-specific risk assessment, essential compliance support, visual risk awareness tools, onsite Champion training, and proactive safety KPI tracking—improving reporting and stronger legal defensibility. Annual Safety Culture (SABRE©) audits benchmarked performance, enabling continuous and measurable improvement.
  • Slip, trip and fall prevention system
A structured daily slip, trip, and fall prevention system was implemented across stores. Sites were zoned, staff were trained as Champions, and handheld devices were used to carry out short, scheduled CAYGO© checks throughout the day.
