Dr. Tony Bates is a Clinical Psychologist and the founder of Jigsaw – The National Centre for Youth Mental Health. He led the Psychology Department at St. James’s Hospital for 30 years and received his psychotherapy training at the University of Pennsylvania and Oxford. Currently, he serves as an adjunct professor at University College Dublin (UCD) and is a patron of the Mindfulness Teachers Association of Ireland. Tony is developing compassion-based approaches for young people in care in collaboration with Focus Ireland.
His work highlights the importance of psychologically safe environments, which are essential for mental health in the workplace. He is also the author of "Breaking the Heart Open" and "Coming Through Depression."
